Spicy sponsorship for young surfers

Diego’s Managing director, Deann presented 13-year-olds Roxy Cameron and Aidan Finn with a sponsorship deal that includes custom-shaped surfboards embossed with Diego’s logo and a Boardriders Annual Membership, totalling more than $3,000 of value.

Diego’s owner Deann Thomson says each year the company liaise with the MNM Boardriders Club to select two deserving surfers to support and sponsor.

“Giving back to the local community is incredibly important to Diego’s and it’s rewarding to connect with the younger generation and not only make an impact but a difference in their lives,” says Mrs Thomson.

“To date, we have sponsored six young surfers and have watched them grow into young adults and we’ve even had past surfers drop into our showroom to update us on their careers and grab some Diego’s goodies.”

Local surfer and sponsorship recipient Roxy Cameron says she was thrilled when Diego’s reached out to her with the opportunity.

“I am so grateful about being sponsored by Diego’s and I feel it is a step in the right direction for my surfing career. I have recently been selected as a reserve for the QLD team and training program with Surfing QLD. That wouldn’t be possible without Diego’s sponsorship and support”, says Ms Cameron.

“Hopefully this is the beginning of more opportunities to come and I’m really looking forward to what the future brings.”

With careers now fast tracked by the support of Diego’s and MNM Boardriders, Roxy and Aidan are slated to take the surfing world by storm in the coming years, having already demonstrated remarkable aptitude on the waves.
