Women in Business

I wholeheartedly believe we are turning the page on women in business, and rather than rattling off some alarming statistics, I have some positive ones to share with you.

  • In the span of one year (2016), 163 million women started or ran new companies in 74 economies around the globe.
  • Women now own 36% of small businesses.
  • In the last 20 years, the number of businesses owned by women globally has increased by 114%.
  • Women own four out of ten businesses in the US.
  • Almost 90% of businesses owned by women generate no more than $100,000 yearly.

At the heart though we all play a part in a positive, well-balanced workplace.

It is amazing though to see women doing great things in business speaking from experience:

Moving to Australia over 25 years ago and starting a small tortilla business that had nothing but passion behind it, at the time – seemed like a pipedream.

Fast forward all these years and it’s safe to say that from a woman’s perspective, it does take grit, guts and determination to make it as a business leader.

However, I do believe things are slowly getting better.

Teamwork is what truly makes a business succeed. It’s not just the product, machinery used or branding. It’s who you are as a company and the passion you have for what you’re make and offer to the market. If the people coming to work love their job – the consumer will feel it.

On a final note, it’s important to remember to support each other now and into the future with everything we’ve got – no matter what our gender.
